Privacy Policy

App: MIO — Campus Life Organizer / Effective date: July 26, 2026 / Last updated: August 9, 2026

“MIO” (the “App”) is a campus-life management app provided by misoclub (“we”, “us”). We respect your privacy and set out this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) as follows. The App includes features to share information with friends, as well as an optional feature to link an account for backup and device migration, and uses the cloud (Google Firebase) for those purposes.

1. Accounts (anonymous authentication and optional account linking)

To enable sharing with friends and syncing across multiple devices, the App uses Google Firebase anonymous authentication to assign each user an anonymous identifier (a random ID). At this stage no registration of your name, email address, or phone number is required, and we do not collect them.

If you wish to back up your data, migrate to a new device, or be able to restore your account, you may optionally link a Google or Apple account (sign in). When you link an account, we obtain the email address and display name provided by that account and store them in our cloud (Cloud Firestore) in order to identify the linked account, provide support, and enable recovery. Linking is optional, and the core features of the App are available without it.

If you choose “Hide My Email” with Sign in with Apple, Apple’s private relay address is used. You can link an account at any time from Settings, and you can also unlink it via “Delete all data” described below.

2. Information stored on your device

The information you enter or record (timetable, classes, attendance, credits and credit categories, assignments and exams, schedules, part-time job shifts and pay settings, TODOs, diary, job-hunting company notes, circle information, profile, and settings such as notifications, theme, and background) is stored primarily on your device. Summaries and charts such as attendance rate, credits, and pay are calculated on your device from these values.

3. Information stored in the cloud and shared

When you use the friends and sharing features, the following information is stored in our cloud (Google Cloud Firestore) and shared with specific people according to your actions. Whether to share, and with whom, is decided by you.

When you remove (block) a friend, that person can no longer retrieve your shared information from then on.

4. Push notifications

The App uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to notify you of others’ actions, such as friend requests, invitations to events or circles, and announcements. For this purpose we store a per-device notification token in the cloud. The generation and sending of notification content is performed by our server functions (Cloud Functions), which reference the shared information above only to the extent needed to compose the notification text. You can turn notifications on or off, and choose whether to receive notifications from other users, in Settings.

Reminders based on your own schedule — such as assignment deadlines, exams, before class, before a shift, and the morning summary — are local notifications generated on your device.

5. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob, provided by Google, to display ads. AdMob may collect and use the advertising identifier (Advertising ID / IDFA on iOS) and information about your device and usage for ad delivery, fraud prevention, and measurement. The handling of this information is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Whether ads are personalized (tailored to your interests) is based on your consent. On iOS, the App asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) when you start using it. If you allow it, the App serves personalized ads using the advertising identifier (IDFA); if you do not, it serves non-personalized ads. In either case, all features of the App remain fully available. In regions that require consent management, such as the EU/EEA, a consent form is shown via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP), and we follow its result.

The App offers an auto-renewing in-app subscription, “MIO Premium,” with benefits including the removal of banner ads. The previously offered one-time purchase is no longer available to new customers, but existing purchasers keep their benefits. Purchases and payments are processed by the App Store (Apple) / Google Play (Google); we do not obtain or store your payment information such as credit card numbers. For the transaction terms of purchases, please see the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions notice.

6. Third-party services we use

The App uses the following third-party services to provide its features.

The handling of data in these services is governed by each company’s privacy policy (Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy; Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).

7. Inquiries, reports, and blocking

When you contact us via the inquiry form in Settings, we receive the content of your inquiry, the contact address you optionally provide for our reply, any images you attach, and app/device information needed to respond (such as the app version, OS/platform type, and language setting), and use them to provide support.

For content shared between users, such as circle board posts, you can report it to us via “Report inappropriate content” in Settings. When you report, we receive the identifier of the target, the reason for the report, and app/device information similar to the above. You can also stop sharing from a person by removing (blocking) a friend. We review reports and take action as necessary.

8. Provision to third parties

Except as required by law, we do not provide your information to third parties without your consent. Any sharing with friends or circle members is based on your own actions. The third-party services listed above are processors we use to provide the App’s features and handle information under our instructions.

9. Deleting data

You can delete the data on your device and the data stored in our cloud (including linking information) via “Delete all data” in Settings. This operation also releases any linked Google/Apple credential. If you unlink (sign out), the data on your device is erased while the cloud data remains, so you can restore it by signing in again with the same account. Uninstalling the App erases the data on your device.

10. Children’s privacy

The App does not collect information targeted at a specific age group. If a child uses the App, please do so under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

11. Security

We take appropriate security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of the information we obtain and store.

12. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be revised as necessary. If there are material changes, we will announce them on this page. The revised Policy takes effect when posted on this page.
